NSE moves 559.08m shares worth N3.59bn



Dealers at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday exchanged 559.08 million shares worth N3.59 billion in 4,902 deals.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that turnover of the day was higher by 12.09 per cent when compared with 498.78 million shares valued at N2.73 billion exchanged in 4,765 deals on Thursday.


A breakdown of the activity chart showed that Zenith Bank had the highest volume of shares traded, with an exchange of 111.96 million shares worth N1.79 billion.
It was followed by Access Bank which sold 82.92 million shares worth N443.72 million, while Wapic Insurance exchanged 65.51 million shares at N32.75 million.
FBN Holdings traded 54.57 million shares valued at N206.10 million, while Transcorp accounted for a total of 44.96 million shares worth N51.36 million.
NAN reports that the market indices for the third day posted positive growth, appreciating by 0.33 per cent.
The All-Share Index which opened at 27,028.24 points grew by 88.21 points or 0.33 per cent to close at 27,116.45 points.
Also, the market capitalisation inched N30 billion to close at N9.31 trillion against N9.28 trillion posted on Thursday.
Forte Oil led the gainers’ table, appreciating by N7.44 to close at N213 per share.
Lafarge Africa gained N1.40 to close at N77.40 per share, while Stanbic IBTC garnered 71k to close at N15.01 per share.
Unilever improved by 59k to close at N31 per share and Nigerian Breweries chalked up 50k to close at N126 per share.
On the other hand, Guaranty Trust Bank topped the losers’ chart, dropping by 77k to close at N20.20 per share.
Union Dicon Salt lost 68k to close at N13.17, while NCR dropped 47k to close at N8.99 per share.
NASCON lost 20k to close at N8.30 per share and Ikeja Hotels dipped 11k to close at N2.11 per share.
