How to cool your apartment for free: DIY aircon uses old plastic bottles - and is already used in used in 25,000 Indian homes

Bangladesh is known for its scorching temperatures, but many do not have electricity to power an aircon.


Now, a new social venture has created Eco-Cooler, a DIY cooling system consisting of just plastic bottles and a piece of cardboard – that decreases the temperature by 9 degrees Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius) in just a short time. Grameen Intel teamed up with the adverting agency Grey Dhaka to develop this project. And as of February, the duo has brought the cooling system to more than 25,000 households in Bangladesh.
