Are YOU slowly making your child obese? The amount you should REALLY serve your kids as it's revealed 10% of parents give toddlers adult-sized food portions

The Infant and Toddler Forum research also found 80 per cent of children aged one to four are often given more food than they need with spaghetti or cheese sandwiches the most common offenders.

Around 10 per cent of respondents gave their children too large servings of snacks, with nearly three in ten choosing a bigger than necessary portion size of cheese and oatcakes when asked to select from pictures. Seven in ten parents also routinely offered their child a bigger portion of crisps than recommended. Judy More, paediatric dietitian and member of the ITF, added: 'Practical advice for parents on appropriate portion sizes for toddlers has been lacking, so it's not surprising our survey revealed a significant lack of understanding about how much to feed them. The ITF has now developed a user-friendly guide to the recommended portion size ranges for children aged 1-4 to help parents take the guesswork out of how much is enough.'
