Laurel and Rachel Bowman Cryer were awarded $135,000 in emotional damages after Melissa and Aaron Klein of Sweet Cakes refused to make a cake for their 2013 wedding.
The Kleins told them they don't serve same-sex couples. Laurel made a complaint that went to the Oregon Department of Justice and Aaron posted the notice, which included her full name and phone number, that he was being investigated on Facebook. Since then, the Bowman-Cryers have received a constant onslaught of online abuse and now rarely leave their home, quit their jobs, and stay inside as much as possible in order to protect their two young girls.
