Mother-of-two Kelly Eroglu claims she can feed her family (pictured left) for £20 a week by picking up dinner in the reduced aisles at Waitrose and M&S.
As the clock ticks closer to 5pm, the air hostess and food blogger prepares to go 'ninja'. She grabs her car keys and designer handbag and makes a sharp exit in search of food bargains before they disappear from the supermarket shelves.
Timing, she tells me, is crucial if you want to 'shop like a ninja' - a phrase Kelly has coined to describe her tactics of buying reduced items nearing their sell-by dates before they are consigned to the bin. Or before someone else snaps them up.
There she picks up a whole chicken reduced from £9.66 to just £2.20 and two organic chicken fillets reduced from £4.56 to 95p (right).
