Couples from across the globe jetted over to Sonkajaervi, Finland, today for the World Wife Carrying Championships where men race around a track with their wives on their backs.
The annual contest welcomes competitors to battle it out on a 250m-long course. The rules state that men can compete with their own wives or 'borrow' one from their neighbour. Couples travelled from Japan, America and Russia to try to run their way to victory in this bizarre competition.
