MIDAS SHARE TIPS: Miners are out...now we're looking for gold at Marks & Spencer in our Dogs of the Footsie

We last looked at the Dogs in November last year, when half the portfolio consisted of miners and oil companies - BP, Shell, Anglo American, BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.

Insurer Admiral was in there, alongside utility SSE, publisher Pearson, drugs giant GlaxoSmithKline and banking giant HSBC. Today, there has been a radical turnaround. The miners all slashed or suspended their dividends near the turn of the year, following a sustained rout in commodity markets. Since then, those markets have rallied and mining shares have rebounded sharply.
