Texas high school student, 20, who was homeless for THREE YEARS after his mother died graduates top of his class and wins full college scholarship
Liyjon DeSilva, pictured top in his graduation gown, was thrown out by his family after bouncing from relative to relative following the death of his mother when he was just five years old.
But even while he was spending his nights sleeping in parking lots or on park benches in southwest Houston, Texas, he never considered missing school. He is pictured bottom left sharing a hug with his delighted principal Jonathan N. Trinh at his graduation ceremony at Margaret Long Wisdom High School. Once the school realized DeSilva was homeless staff stepped in to help.
