Wizkid set to drop most diverse LP from Africa

Wizkid is on the move again. And this time, he appears to have found a renewed drive to complete his third studio album.

The singer is currently vying for the award of most travelled African star is currently in the US, where he is wrapping up work for his forthcoming LP. Last week, he was touring Europe in the company of Chris Brown, and then he shot through to the Dominican Republic, to record and shoot a video with Tinie Tempah, titled ‘Mamacita’. This week has him ‘vibing’ with French Montana, Justine Skye, and producer, Diplo.

Wizkid’s quest for a new LP is what has powered his year so far. His previous body of work, “Ayo (Joy)” which gave him the reins of his career, and completely cut him from the Banky W-led Empire States Entertainment. Since then Wizkid has grown exponentially, becoming the biggest musician on the continent.

Via countless hits at home, and international collaborations, the singer has kept his push for global domination alive, and it has begun to paid dividends for his music. This year saw him collaborate with Drake on a chart-topping hit song, and the floodgates have become open.
Wizkid’s forthcoming album is scheduled to come out this year, with the singer working around the globe to produce an African classic. After ruling Nigeria with his debut album, his sophomore gathered polarizing reviews, with many enthusiasts tearing down the work as a project without substance. Wizkid has grown from that man with new connections, better access to more diverse sounds, and ultimately, a more rounded influence. These influences have come from collaborations across continents.
A list of potential collaborators on Wizkid’s album reads like an all-star list.
It includes: Swizz Beatz, French Montana, TY Dolla Signs, Tinie Tempah, Angelique Kidjo, Nico & Vinz, Drake, Wale, Oskido, DJ Maphorisa, Chris Brown, Diplo, Mi Casa, Efya, Mr Eazi, and R2bees.
That list right there sounds like the past, the present and the future of world beaters. There’s still a lot more to come, and many songs with these supporting casts might not make it through the studio and on to the platform, but there’s a lot of potential in there, and a huge amount of that will be on the forthcoming album. Wizkid will alos definitely collaborate with a number of Nigerian acts.

A good nomination list will include Kiss Daniel and Seyi Shay.
Another reason why Wizkid will go for diversity in music and sounds for the album will be his ever-growing profile and fan base across the world. The singer’s global influence has grown, with more people following his career and content. This will no doubt be put into consideration during the creative process of the LP. Wizkid will have to go for a balancing act to satisfy divergent music tastes, while also maintaining his Afrobeat core that has propped him to this point.
