'Motherhood gave me psychosis': How a post-partum mental illness had Katy admitted to a psychiatric hospital days after giving birth
In 2012, a 32-year-old Katy Chachou from Solihull stayed in a psychiatric hospital for six months following the birth of her baby daughter, which she says left her 'obsessive'.
Postpartum psychosis comes on suddenly in the days or weeks after birth, and is characterised by a variety of symptoms such as non-stop talking, confusion, an inability to sleep, and exhausting energy, along with hallucinations, loss of inhibition and paranoia.
