Cartoon chiefs make grovelling apology after Fireman Sam character is shown STANDING on a page of the Koran

Channel 5 has removed the episode 'Troubled Waters' after eagle-eyed viewers criticised the show for Islamophobia. 


The scene begins when the bumbling character 'Elvis' takes a tumble holding a tray of tea. But he stands on a piece of paper which Twitter users identified as being from the Muslim holy book, the Koran. Pages of scripture then fly up into the air as they, and Elvis, come crashing to the floor. According to social media users the paper shows verses 13-26 of chapter 67 of the Koran.
