New Heartland chairman, Etuemena begs Nigerians to save club

The new executive Chairman of Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Goodfaith Chibuzo Etuemena, has appealed to football stakeholders in Nigeria to save the club from relegation from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), which could lead to the club’s extinction.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony of the club’s new management team in Owerri at the weekend, Etuemena acknowledged that the former Nigerian champions were in danger of dropping out of the elite division for the first time in their history.

“I am very optimistic that this is not yet the end of the road for Heartland. I am not a magician but I am an optimist and I believe that there is nothing that God cannot do. I discovered that a lot of things went wrong with the last management (team) and we will try our best to correct them.

“I want to seize this opportunity to call on everybody, our supporters, the entire Nigerian football stakeholders and all those who might have felt offended to accept our hands of friendship and help us save this club for the sake of posterity,” he said.

The club’s new management team include Promise Nwachukwu, who is now the club’s Sporting Director, Cajetan Nkwopara (Director of Media) and Mobi Oparaku, who is the new Team Manager.
Others are Ramson Madu, who is the new Head Coach and Emmanuel Uzoma Emelu (Welfare Officer).
