The greatest day in British Olympic history since 1908: Epic Andy Murray win caps off Sensational Sunday haul of SIX golds and three silvers to knock China off second place on the medals table
British athletes won five golds in four hours tonight to leapfrog China in second place at the Games in Brazil. The extraordinary surge has seen Britain's tally surge to 14, with one more guaranteed in the sailing.
'Magic' Max Whitlock instantly became a hero when he made history for Britain after winning the country's first ever Olympic gold medal in gymnastics - and did it again an hour later. Shortly after, Justin Rose beat Sweden's Henrik Stenson to win the first golf event at the Games in 112 years. Jason Kenny triumphed over Callum Skinner in the Battle of the Brits cycling event at the Olympic Velodrome. And Giles Scott sailed to victory in the men's finn event, ensuring he cannot be caught - but he won't receive his medal until Tuesday.
