The devastated wife of Labour MP Keith Vaz, Maria Fernandes, last night opened her heart to The Mail on Sunday - and said she will forgive him for cheating on her with rent boys.


Ms Fernandes (left) married Vaz in 1993 (right) and the couple have two children together (inset). In an astonishingly candid interview, Ms Fernandes, a successful lawyer and part-time judge, reveals how Vaz tearfully begged her for forgiveness. She also added that she had no inkling her husband enjoyed having sex with men. After telling his wife about what he had done, Ms Fernandes initially moved into a spare room in their home in Edgware, north London. But she has now moved back into the marital bed because she fears Vaz might be suicidal.
