Jeff and Julie Byrne, both 52 of Rockcliffe in Cumbria, have revealed their terror after being deserted by their boat while diving in shark infested waters off Mauritius (inset).
The pair were finally rescued (left) after seven hours treading water with other divers after their dive master told them to swim away from the shore only 50 yards away at the beginning of the ordeal. They were then caught in a riptide, Jeff's leg was bumped twice by a suspected shark and a tropical storm rolled in. The couple had already done a dive the day before (right) during their dream holiday.
