Would YOU dare ask a computer how old you look? Eight brave women try out the terrifyingly simple new internet craze


More than 85 million people across the globe have already uploaded a photograph of themselves to the Microsoft How-Old website, which is then analysed using a set of complex algorithms - problem-solving operations - based on calculations and the measurements from millions of sample faces. 


The computer can make a guess at a person's age based on the degeneration rate of collagen, the scaffolding that holds up the skin and is responsible for youthful plumpness. This is said to be 1 per cent every year after the age of 25. Now, celebrities including (clockwise, from top left) Virginia Ironside, Marina Fogle, Mary Beard, Patty Parfitt, Annabel Croft, Jenni Murray, Lindsay Nicholson and Jilly Johnson have taken the test, and the findings might surprise you . . .
