It's been a traumatic couple of weeks for her family.
And so Kim Kardashian decided to skip her usual extravagant celebrations in favour of a 'low key' party this week to mark both her husband Kanye West's return from hospital and their son Saint's first birthday.
Kanye was discharged from hospital on Wednesday, after suffering a reported 'nervous breakdown' over a week ago, while little Saint will turn one on December 5.
Kim, 36, was keen to celebrate with her nearest and dearest according to insiders, and managed to throw together a 'little celebration' at her house in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
A source has told Us Weekly: '[Kim held] a little celebration with a little cake but it was very low-key.'
Kim - who also has three-year-old daughter North with her partner - invited her family to the party, with her sisters Khloe, Kourtney and Kylie all uploading a snapchat of dozens of star shaped metallic balloons filling the room.
