South Africa’s on-demand solutions provider, Discover Digital is set to launch a video streaming service described as a “groundbreaking fun new digital entertainment on demand service.”
Known as Digital Entertainment on Demand (DEOD), the new service offers customers various Internet television channels and bouquets of content direct to their smart phones, tablets and laptops on a subscription and pay-per-view basis.
For as low as 49 rand (US$3.62), customers will have access to the latest box office hits, global news channels, sports and news channels, on demand TV series, music videos, kids shows and movies on-demand.
“As a full-service, video on demand business, we want to use the increased connectivity consumers now have access to, to deliver more entertainment in a number of ways,” said Stephen Watson, Discover Digital Managing Director.

The service launched yesterday and is currently only available in South Africa. More countries will be added soon. You can browse the catalogues, watch trailers and other free content here before you even create an account.
Discover Digital used to operate MTN’s video streaming service VU before it was shut down on 3rd May. Its Digital Entertainment on Demand (DEOD) enters a space bossed by Naspers-backed ShowMax, Netflix and several others.
