Steady on chaps! Britain's victorious synchronised divers hug for joy after winning gold - while China's bronze medalists settle for a manly pat on the back
British duo Chris Mears and Jack Laugher (celebrating, centre, and diving, right) have triumphed in the three-metre synchronised diving - taking gold in the green pool.
As the winning pair jumped for joy and hugged each other, their ever-so slightly more conservative Chinese rivals - who came third - patted each other on the back (left). The gold is Britain's first ever at an Olympic Games - and comes just two days after Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow won bronze in the 10m synchronised dive. Heroic diver Mears was given just a five per cent chance of survival after contracting a deadly virus in 2009, but woke from a coma knowing he had to compete at the Olympics. His dream came true today, with the champion diver and his team mate Laugher claiming a spectacular win. There was rapturous applause in the diving arena as Mears and Laugher stepped up to collect their medals (inset), with British supporters chanting: 'Team GB!'
