Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi both scored as Barcelona beat 10-man Villarreal to stay five points clear at the top of La Liga.
They were a long way from their best but one moment of vintage football was enough to take the points. It came on 72 minutes when Paco Alcacer exchanged passes with Messi inside the area before setting-up Suarez who walked the ball around the keeper and fired into the empty net.
Barcelona desperately need a sprinkle of stardust from somewhere post midwinter break. Be that the arrival of a player of Philippe Coutinho's quality or the return of long-term injury victim Ousmane Dembele.
