Afrinolly Limited Launches Afrinolly Marketplace To Combat Piracy

In a bid to reduce piracy to the barest minimum and reward movie producers/creators for their contents, Afrinolly Limited, developers of the Afrinolly app, has announced the launch of Afrinolly Marketplace, a secure mobile platform for the distribution of Nollywood/African movies, Short films, Series and more.

The app, a tweaking of the award-winning Afrinolly app, provides movie lovers in Nigeria, Africa and other parts of the world convenient access to films they love.
“This is an exciting moment for Nollywood and the African film industry as we launch the Afrinolly Marketplace; an African solution to the challenge of piracy. A challenge largely ignored by established video streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Videos, YouTube Reed and others,” CEO of Afrinolly Limited, Chike Maduegbuna said in a press release.
He added, “At Afrinolly, we believe African entertainment enthusiasts should have access to these contents without the risk of piracy.”
Users can stream contents via Afrinolly’s mobile site and via the app as efforts have been made to keep the video viewing experience consistent regardless of the device or platform used.
MTN subscribers in Nigeria can pay for content via their airtime – NGN100 for a movie and NGN50 for a short film, while Airtel subscribers will be able to do same in the coming weeks. Users in other parts of the world would pay US$0.99 for a movie via in-app payment systems.
Through Afrinolly Marketplace app, producers/creators in Africa will be able to offer their contents via mobile phones and get paid for it without fear of piracy.
To enjoy Nollywood/African finest films, simply download the Afrinolly app for Android,Blackberry and Windows Phone from their respective stores.
The Afrinolly app won the Google Android Developer Challenge sub-Saharan Africa in 2011 and is the most downloaded entertainment app wholly designed and developed in Africa.
