Former President Jimmy Carter Says His Tests Show No Cancer

Former President Jimmy Carter announced Sunday that his brain cancer couldn't be seen on an MRI scan taken last week.
The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports that Carter shared the news while speaking to a Sunday school class he was teaching at Maranatha Baptist Church in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.
"Went for an MRI this past week and [doctors] didn't find any cancer at all in the brain," Carter said, according to NBC News. Carter's grandson, Jason Carter, confirmed the news to The Associated Press.
A statement released to Mashable on behalf of Carter reads: "My most recent MRI brain scan did not reveal any signs of the original cancer spots nor any new ones. I will continue to receive regular 3-week immunotherapy treatments of pembrolizumab."
There were no further details on whether Carter, 91, had fully beaten the disease.
In August, Carter announced that melanoma found in his liver this past summer had spread to his brain. He underwent radiation therapy following the diagnosis.
In a statement from the Carter Center released in November, Carter had received good news from his doctors.
"They tell him that recent tests have shown there is no evidence of new malignancy, and his original problem is responding well to treatment. Further tests will continue," the statement said.
