Slack has made good on its plan few days ago to roll out a “Do Not Disturb” mode to its office/team collaboration tool.
Today the company is making the feature live on both its mobile and desktop app allowing you disable new private messages/mentions alerts, including an icon to show your availability status and the ability to snooze notifications on iOS and Android.
Do Not Disturb can be enabled by clicking the bell icon by your team name in the top right corner of your sidebar or by using the simple /dnd slash command and choosing your desired time parameter.
It is by default enabled within the hours of 10PM and 8AM in each team member’s time zone, though can be changed in the settings page by team’s admins to fit schedule.
Also, when you try sending a message to someone who’s got Do Not Disturb enabled, the updated app via the slackbot sends you a reminder that you might not get an instant reply, though there’s an option to force the message through in case of an emergency.
