Is custody battle beginning to take its toll on erratic Madonna? Singer turns up four hours late for bizarre clown show then breaks down in tears as Guy and Rocco return home from court date

Cavorting around on stage dressed as a clown, complete with pink wig and stripey stockings, it may appear like Madonna does not have a care in the world (pictured left).

But while the pop star performed for crowds in Australia, on the other side of the globe, the battle over where Rocco, her son with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, should live, continued.

Rocco, 15, sat through six hours of legal argument at the High Court in London today as lawyers for his parents discussed his future.

His film director father (pictured inset, and right returning home with his son) was present for some of the hearing. Madonna's behaviour seems to be becoming erratic, as she kept fans waiting four hours in the Melbourne rain.

It was reported that the delay was because she was still rehearsing.

When she finally took to the stage at around midnight, she is said to have emotionally dedicated her song Intervention to Rocco.
