First-time mother gave birth on the TOILET just an hour after she was sent home from hospital while having contractions

Sophie Holmes, 28 (left), was sent home from hospital after staff told her there was 'no way' her baby would arrive 14 days early because her cervix was still closed.

But an hour after arriving home, in Southend, Essex, Mrs Holmes was sitting on the loo (inset) and upon feeling something, sprang to her feet. To her surprise, she looked down to see her baby's head and managed to catch her before she hit the bathroom tiles. Baby Olivia (right) was born healthy and weighed 7lb 13oz. Since the birth, on April 18, Mrs Holmes and her husband have registered a formal complaint with Southend University Hospital, claiming staff there handled the birth 'so badly'.
