Could THIS be the spot we find Martian life? Schiaparelli landing site on Mars is revealed for its daring mission
The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan aboard a Proton rocket on 14 March and will reach the red planet in October.
The orbiter will land in the Meridiani Planum region of Mars, a flat part of the planet near its equator. The landing ellipse measures 62 by 9 miles (100 by 15 km). It is close to the equator, in the southern highlands of Mars.
