Jessica Ennis-Hill won the most stunning of silver medals on Sunday, coming within two seconds of defending her title as Belgium's Nafissatou Thiam clinched gold.
Going into the 800m, the final of seven events, Ennis-Hill was required to beat Thiam, a 50/1 outsider before the heptathlon began, by more than nine seconds. It was always going to be a tough ask given that Ennis-Hill's personal best was set back in 2011 and 21-year-old Thiam is fast improving.
