The Olympic pains: As Rio comes to an end, spare a thought for these athletes whose bodies were broken along with their dreams of gold

From French gymnast Samir Ait Said who snapped his leg in half during a landing (top right), to Australian javelin thrower Kim Mickle who dislocated her shoulder (top middle) in her first competition since a reconstruction, there have been some horrific injuries at the Rio Olympics. 


This week wrestler Talgat Ilyaso dislocated his elbow (top left), Armenian weightlifter Andranik Karapetyan dislocated his elbow lifting 195kg (bottom left), and during the 50 kilometres French athlete Yohann Diniz appeared to have defecated himself (bottom right). However it's not only been the athletes who have suffered injuries at Rio, and seven spectators were injured when a camera fell on them (bottom centre).
