Where's your wedding ring, Clare? Presenter Balding sparks confusion as she appears without her gold band on the BBC's Rio Olympics coverage

Clare Balding's wife has revealed how the presenter did not take her wedding ring with her to Rio de Janeiro following safety advice. 


Viewers watching the BBC's coverage of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Brazil noticed the popular anchor wasn't sporting her band (pictured main and top inset). Several took to Twitter (shown bottom inset) to query why she had chosen not the wear the ring, with some suggesting things may have turned sour with her and Clare's wife Alice Arnold, who tied the knot last year. However Alice was quick to shoot down any speculation on social media, replying to one user with: 'Was advised not to take it with her..don't worry..it's safely with me...'
