At last! It's designer luxury on the High Street: How brands are using the exact same fabrics as expensive labels

The High Street has begun to creep into luxury territory. Not as in copying designer clothes, but as in using the exact same fabrics, print artists and manufacturers as the most expensive labels.

Mint Velvet's premium line, Mint, boasts silk and crepe from the same supplier as Armani and Versace. LK Bennett has fabrics from the same Italian producers who work with Burberry, Stella McCartney and Celine. So how do High Street names manage to produce luxury pieces in the low hundreds rather than thousands? Techniques include careful cutting to minimise waste and also using the expensive designer fabric on the outside with cheaper linings and trimmings.
