Manchester United outcast Bastian Schweinsteiger has won the 'Special Jury' prize at the German BAMBI awards.
Despite his limited game-time in Manchester over the last year - this season he has found himself frozen out of the first team picture entirely - the German media award show decided to honour the 32-year-old for his efforts with the national side.
Schweinsteiger retired from international football back in August a World Cup winner and with a European Championships runners-up medal also in his trophy cabinet. Attending the award show with his tennis star wife Ana Ivanovic, the United misfit can now add the fawn statuette to his collection.
Schweinsteige shed tears upon his final appearance for Die Mannschaft and spoke of his 'honour' to play for the German people.
Now the man who looks set to be heading Stateside to continue his club career has been given a special accolade by his home country's media.
