They are two of Britain's biggest vlogging stars but when Tanya Burr and Jim Chapman tied the knot in a stylish ceremony in front of family and friends on September 3, they kept the entire thing under wraps. The couple slapped a social media ban on guests - who included YouTube royalty Zoella and her boyfriend Alfie Deyes - leading up to the bash at exclusive celebrity haunt Babington House in Somerset on September 3. But word of their 'I do's' finally came to light when Tanya, 26, from Norwich, posted a black and white shot in which she is seen kissing her new husband, 27, with the caption, 'we did it' on Sunday night, which was liked more than 500,000 times. The wedding, which saw Tanya marry in a stunning lace Phillipa Lepley gown with a full skirt, belt detail and simple long veil, cements her status as one half of the UK's foremost internet power couples. After starting out as a make-up artist on the beauty counter of a department store, Tanya started creating video tutorials showing how to recreate celebrity make-up looks in 2009. She now has more than two million subscribers to her YouTube channel, while her other channel Tanya's Vlogs has had 24 million views. Meanwhile, her new husband Jim is a model and vlogger in his own right, who counts beauty bloggers Pixiwoo as his sisters.
Fittingly, the couple's guests included a Who's Who of the vlogging community including Zoe Sugg, aka Zoella, was one of Tanya's three bridesmaids, wearing blush-coloured Seventies-style floor length dresses. Zoella's brother Joe Sugg (another YouTuber) was present, along with Zoella's boyfriend and vlogger Alfie Deyes, the brain behind the Pointless Blog and his best selling spin-off book, Niomi Smart, Marcus Butler and Caspar Lee. Groom Jim, who is a member of the Style Haul vlogging network and who also co-hosts ITV panel show Viral Tap, looked dapper in a tailored three-piece suit, including a flower in his buttonhole that matched his bride's bouquet. Word of the couple's union quickly spread as Twitter users quickly responded to the couple’s happy news with a #jimandtanyagetmarried hashtag and a flurry of congratulatory wishes. Jim’s sister Nic posted a picture of the family, writing: ‘Now I can officially call @TanyaBurr my sister.’ While friends and followers said: ‘@TanyaBurr you look AMAZING. congrats both of you! Xxx
‘@JimsTweetings @TanyaBurr the wedding looked breathtaking - my heart couldnt be happier for u both! luv & miss u lots #jimandtanyagetmarried ‘@jimstweetings @tanyaburr woken up feeling all warm and fuzzy. Love is alive, and I love you guys. Mazel Tov!! #jimandtanyagetmarried’
The groom also shared in his excitement with a video post on YouTube, proclaiming ‘WE DID IT!’, while the bride enthused on Twitter: 'So crazy that our wedding is all over the news and #jimandtanyagetmarried is still trending worldwide!' In the video Jim broadcasted that it was ‘the most magical day ever!’ and added that he is keen to take some time off from the online world to just be a husband. Meanwhile, romantic shots from their official photographer Dominique Bader saw the couple posing in the beautiful grounds of the Soho House outpost. Dominique tweeted after the event, 'Loved capturing these two. Such down to earth and kind people. Honoured to have captured the wedding…'
The ceremony comes eight years after the couple met as teenagers at a house party in 2007 when they discovered they had gone to the same school, but didn't recognise each other.
But after texting each other and a first date at the cinema, the pair soon became an item and were in a relationship by the time Tanya launched her YouTube channel. With Tanya's encouragement, Jim also built up a career as a member of the close-knit British blogosphere which includes Zoella and Alfie and Jim's sisters Sam and Nic Chapman who've gained a huge online following as Pixiwoo. The couple have since vlogged their every move for over two years when Jim decided to pop the question in 2012, during a trip to New York. Jim set the scene on his channel telling viewers where he planned to pop the question in Central Park. Unfortunately for fans the actual proposal was kept off camera, but the couple were happy to flash the ring afterwards. Since finding internet stardom, Tanya has gone on to produce her own make-up brand Tanya Burr Cosmetics and to release her own book, Love, Tanya. The makeup vlogger shot to fame in 2009 with her 'celebrity looks' makeup tutorials. This rapidly expanded to two personal channels and guest appearances on other YouTube sites, plus her own 'eye CANDY' brand cosmetics through UK retailer Tanya Burr Cosmetics.
