OLX, an online classified marketplace has announced that an ongoing law enforcement plan with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to secure its platform against fraudulent activities has yielded results as two suspected scammers have been arrested.
This development was disclosed by OLX Nigeria Country Manager, Lola Masha at the e-commerce security event organized in partnership with Mobile Monday Nigeria, part of a global community of mobile industry visionaries, developers, designers and influential individuals, which took place in Lagos, Nigeria.
She said, “We have developed both human and technology monitoring measures to curb incessant threats posed by traitors to their business partners.”
Corroborating her assertions, Chief Superintendent of Nigeria Police, Charles Okafor said,“The Nigeria Police Force is actively working with OLX to ensure online offenders (scammers) are caught and brought to justice.”
Lola Masha also added that one of the culprits is already serving a jail term.
The partnership with the NPF shows the company’s commitment towards ensuring the security of its users are guaranteed.
OLX, which connects local people to buy and/or sell used goods and services through its web or mobile app, is currently available in more than 40 countries and over 50 languages.
