X Factor’s Louisa
Johnson has had some of the lowest first week sales of a winner’s single to
date.
The 17-year-old only
managed to shift 39,196 copies in the first week of sales – in contrast to Ben
Haenow who sold 214,000 of Something I Need a year ago.
The track still made
it into the top 10 of the UK charts though, so it’s not all bad news.
But it’s still pretty
disappointing given previous figures. Alexandra Burke sold 576,000 copies
while Shayne Ward’s That’s My Goal sold 740,000 copies back in 2005.
To be fair to the
singer, she’s had less than a week to score top sales as the charts have
recently been moved from Sunday to Friday.
Next week begins the
race for the Christmas number one and given the poor first week sales Forever
Young will struggle against the likes of Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself.
Ben Haenow, Sam
Bailey, Matt Cardle, Alexandra Burke, Leon Jackson, Leona Lewis and Shayne Ward
all scored Christmas number ones.
The X Factor has taken a hit in the ratings
department this series, with the final coming in with some of the lowest
figures of the show.
