Boy, 3, With Rare Muscle-Wasting Disease Has Tiny Life-Saving Bluetooth Monitor Fitted In His Chest To Alert Doctors If His Heart Fails

Stanley Newman, from Clacton, Essex, has the ultra-rare muscle wasting disease congenital muscular dystrophy (right).

Over time, it will weaken all the muscles in his body and there is a serious risk it could cause heart failure. Stanley has become part of a pioneering trial which involved fitting a Bluetooth device in his chest which monitors heart activity (left).

The device has been described as his 'hi-tech guardian angel' as it will keep him in touch with doctors, 24-hours-a-day for three years.
