A boat that FLEW? Mind-boggling photos show the glamorous Dornier Do-X aircraft which cruised the sky and seas in the 1920s

Nostalgic pictures of the German designed, Swiss-built Dornier Do-X aircraft, which was the epitome of luxury in the 1920s.

It was part-boat, part-plane and could travel through the air and seas. Pictured (far left) passengers enjoyed the comfortable seating and service of the craft, while it landed in the Hudson River (centre left), it prepared to take off with 170 passengers onboard (top right) and flew low above the sea (bottom right).
