London's Olympic statue is turned into world's biggest tunnel slide... so MailOnline dares to take on the dizzying drops of the 40-second descent

Rising high above the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, the 584ft long, 250ft high slide takes visitors on a speedy tour around the ArcelorMittal Orbit.

So Jodie Packwood, with GoPro at the ready, took on the twists, turns and drops of the world's longest and tallest tunnel slide as it weaves its way through Anish Kapoor's iconic red sculpture. The slide is wrapped around the metal frame of the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower with transparent panels revealing the view. Riders loop around the red observational tower seven times, experiencing 12 twists, before it ends in a 164ft stretch.
