Matt Lauer 'snaps up Richard Gere's Hamptons mansion' for almost half the original asking price - but it still cost $36.5million

Today host Matt Lauer is reported to have bought Richard Gere's Strongheart Manor mansion, in New Haven, New York, three years after it first went on the market for $65million. 


In order to complete the purchase, Lauer is reported to have sold another Hamptons cottage and a home in nearby Sag Harbor, but will keep hold of a 40-acre ranch that he and wife Annette have converted into a horse training facility. The new property includes 12 bedroom and bathrooms, two guest houses, an outdoor pool, dock and a tea house.
