Terrified passengers film their Boeing 777 bursting into flames on the runway after emergency landing - and watch from INSIDE the plane for five minutes as firefighters battle to put out the flames

Passengers on board a Singapore Airlines 777 had to sit and wait for several agonizing minutes waiting for emergency services to put out the flames that engulfed the right wing of the aircraft after an unscheduled landing on Monday morning.

Just seconds earlier, some of the 241 passengers on board Flight SQ368 from Changi Airport in Singapore to Milan clapped as the plane made a smooth emergency landing. However, their relief turned to terror when the wing burst into flames and threatened the entire aircraft. Some of those onboard filmed the furious flames as they burned through the right engine, while they waited five minutes for firefighters to douse the inferno with foam and water. The SIA flight, SQ368, departed at 2:05 am, but about two hours into the flight the pilot announced there was an engine problem and the flight would return to Singapore. 'It was a heart wrenching 5 mins! Waiting for the fire engine and fire fighters to put out the fire! They shot foam and water into the fire and eventually it was put out! We were so close to death!!' wrote passenger Lee Bee Yee on Facebook.
