Naivety that'll make you WEEP: Britain's oldest IVF mum likes to see the best in people. Which is why she's been conned - not once but twice - out of £200,000 leaving her and 8-year-old daughter Freya destitute

In 2008, Susan Tollefsen became Britain's oldest first-time IVF mother when she gave birth to her only child, Freya, at the age of 57.

Now, her daughter is eight years old and Sue has just marked her 66th birthday. At retirement age, a single mother and the sole provider for a dependent child, she faces penury. How has she reached this desperate position? A special needs teacher, she is intelligent, articulate and resourceful. Having worked hard for 40 years, she had salted away sufficient savings to provide a comfortable lifestyle for herself and her longed-for daughter. Yet, during the space of five years she has, incredibly, lost every penny.
