It may be a relatively new addition to the British palate, but fresh and zingy Japanese food is now more popular than ever. It's healthy, convenient, and delicious. And it's not just adults who see the appeal.
TV presenter and broadcaster Cherry Healey, 36, says her three-year-old son Bear is one of a new generation of Brits growing up with a taste for sushi. ‘He absolutely loves it,’ she explains.
Mum of two Cherry is also a super keen sushi lover, so when we needed someone to sample the brand new range of sushi launching at M&S, she was the perfect person to ask.
‘I love sushi and I eat it all the time, but particularly when I’m filming. I want something quick and while I don’t want something heavy I want the carbohydrates for energy, so sushi ticks all the boxes,’ Cherry, who also has a seven-year-old daughter, Coco, explains.
The new M&S range, which is in stores now, is their most authentic ever. Made using traditional Japanese techniques and sushi rice harvested in Japan, it's created with a combination of carefully selected ingredients including tamarind & miso duck, mango, and beetroot cured smoked salmon.
The M&S wasabi is made using real wasabi to give a delicious flavour and aroma. 'I like this wasabi you can taste it from the beginning, it doesn’t creep up on you and blow your head off, says Cherry.
As well as each box coming with genuine fermented soy sauce, there is also preservative-free pickled ginger which is preservative free. 'The ginger feels very very authentic, I like the taste,' says Cherry.
Chopsticks at the ready!
